Hi everyone!

We hope you’ve all enjoyed the summer. We are delighted to announce our schedule for the Michaelmas term which can be viewed here: You can also read abstracts from our various speakers and find out more:

Thank you to everyone who submitted proposals. We’re looking forward to hearing from all of our speakers.

Seminars will take place at 5pm on Wednesday evenings, beginning with the traditional talk from the Head of the School of English, Dr. Eve Patten on September 25th. The venue is still a work in progress but will be confirmed as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we hope to see as many of you as possible at the seminars. We are already in planning for the Hilary term schedule so if anyone wants to send in an early abstract we are more than happy to add them to our shortlist!

See you soon,

Ben and Jenny

We’d like to thank everyone who submitted proposals for the next series of seminars.  There were some very interesting proposals and we hope to find space for them all!  We’re now busy putting together a programme which we hope everyone will enjoy.  Once everything is finalised we will post the schedule here and then it’s just a matter of waiting until the sessions kick off!

In the meantime, if any of you have any ideas for a slightly different end-of-term seminar please do let us know.  Last year there was the very entertaining Impossible Questions of Literature debate and a Thesis-in-Three session based on the Ignite format.  If you have been to a conference recently and saw a session format that was interactive/entertaining/looks like a bit of fun tell us about it in the comments below or email us at
